that's just ain't right! and you have so much awesome work up here! it seems to me that they need to have PEOPLE, not an automated process, look at these complaints! that really isn't right, heck they could just have looked at the submission dates and SEEN whose was up first even rather than just going on a who-said-what basis! that really sucks!

Leaving DA probably won't help too much...If someone is dead set on copying your works, they can simply go to your art blog. I imagine not having your works posted here will only make reporting the stolen works even harder. My experience with blogs is that dates can be altered to whenever the poster wants, therefore DA staff will have to go on good faith that you had yours uploaded first. This leaves a lot of leeway for the thieves.
I'm sure the theft must really upset you (it always frustrates me when it happens to me too) but if you post here fans will know and recognize your work. The more people who do this, the more likely it is that they will catch thieves and report them.

tl;dr
Leaving won't stop people from copying your works and posting them here. It may only make it easier for them to get away with doing so.

I almost forgot to add, an idea to make it so that you can always confirm your own art! incorporate you own sig into the art in a way that the at seems incomplete without it or in a way that it is impossible hard for anyone but you to find, but still recognizable as being YOUR sig! oh yeah, and don't forget to date it next to the sig!
